Improvement of the Nagatino Ai-land residential complex. The Lost City Courtyard | A4 Bureau

A4 Bureau, commissioned by Etalon Group, has developed a concept for the improvement of the second stage of the Nagatino i-Land residential island in the Danilovsky district of Moscow. The queue consists of four buildings with a height of 5 to 18 floors, between which a courtyard with the theme name "The Lost City" is formed.

Nagatino i-Land is a large—scale project on an area of 15 hectares near the Technopark metro station, surrounded on three sides by the embankments of the Moskva River and the New backwater. The project implements the principle of a "yard without cars", and creates its own landscaping concept with thematic locations for each yard.: "Living Hills", "The Lost City", "The World of Birds" and "Sleeping Volcano".

The character of the "Lost City" courtyard is revealed through the image of an ancient settlement hidden in the jungle. The complex pattern of the paths mimics the fractures of the earth's crust, the active relief resembles an archaeological landscape, and the lines of playgrounds form the motifs of ancient petroglyphs.

The thematic content of the courtyard is built as an adventure scenario. A maze with a totem sculpture, a playground "Ruins of the Old city", a large sandbox with a canopy, a game complex with grids and balance beams are waiting for young residents. A workout area and a rope complex resembling a large spider web are provided for teenagers and adults. Pergolas, benches, individual benches and outdoor poufs are located in the quiet recreation areas.

Paving and landscaping also support the idea of finding a "lost city": the winding paths resemble an ancient pavement, and the artifacts in the pavement create a sense of authenticity of the place. The landscape is formed by ferns, sumac, astilboides, ochitki, coniferous shrubs and perennials. Clumps of trees and shrubs will appear in secluded recreation and sports areas, creating shade and coolness, and a garden of aromatic herbs is provided for relaxation.
