09/13/2025 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the complex of buildings of the National Space Center. The building will house the headquarters of the state corporation Roscosmos. 12,000 people will work here for the benefit of the space industry. This is a project of national importance and cosmic proportions. The Russian design bureau UNK became the winner in the competition for the development of the architectural concept of the National Space Center.

The main customer, a state corporation, wanted to see the prototype of a spaceship in the appearance of its headquarters. UNK made the building triangular instead of round. This form allowed us to get an effective floor. From most angles, it visually makes the building look thinner and more elegant. And in total, it differs from all standard residential and office towers, of which there are many around. Due to this, the complex becomes dominant. Next, the team cut the top at 45 degrees, which immediately gave the dynamics of the building a vertical plus. And this beveled triangle on the roof perfectly formed the corporate logo, which is perfectly visible from many points of Moscow. The perfect thing was that the logo was red. It's a rare color for architecture, but it has a history. For example, Red Square, the glowing letter of the metro.

"When working on the project, we assumed that the space should be alive and mobile, so that its components could be changed and adapted. The building, which is assigned such a historical role, should remain innovative, modern and embody progress for as long as possible. This means that it was necessary to ensure that modernization could be carried out without being closed for major repairs. As part of this task, we have come up with a constructor. The complex was designed as a system of modules, in the same way as in a spaceship – the space was zoned, delimiting the functionality. We used the logic of building space stations in architecture," says Yuli Borisov, head of UNK.
