The second stage of the residential complex "Alexandrovsky Garden" | GORDEEV-DEMIDOV Architectural Bureau

The second stage of the Alexander Garden complex in Yekaterinburg became a continuation of the new quarter in the historical part of the city. The project embodies the urban planning concept developed by the bureau in the early 2010s: modern contextual architecture, full of functions and services, does not argue with the historical scale of architectural monuments of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but complements it and opens up new connections.

The first stage of the Alexander Garden was houses with patterns of Ural ornaments on the facades and green courtyards, built according to the design of the T+T bureau. The second stage is an L-shaped house, on the facades of which ornamental elements also appear, but in a different embodiment.

The appearance of the house is built in a three-part structure typical of late 19th century architecture: an expressive ground floor with retail spaces, a restrained residential part and an accent finish.

The facades are made of terracotta-colored clinker bricks. The "crowns" of the upper floors create light facets that slightly deviate from the main line of the facade in depth and are located at an angle to each other, cut by tall narrow windows located in this part of the view penthouses.

The double grid of facades — thin and light on a 17-storey block and dense and more massive on a 10—storey section - visually facilitates the appearance of buildings and reduces its height. At the same time, the white top literally dissolves the volume of the last floors, creating a recognizable silhouette of the building in the urban panorama.
