Reconstruction of a transport interchange at different levels at the intersection of Visherskaya St. and the Trans-Siberian Railway in Perm | OOO "Uralgiprotrans"

The reconstruction of the transport interchange at different levels at the intersection of Visherskaya St. and the Trans-Siberian Railway in Perm, according to the design documentation, was carried out by building a tunnel-type overpass consisting of two road tunnels, each of which is designed to allow two lanes of one-way traffic.

The project chose the method of developing an array of tunnel soil under a protective shield made of metal pipes squeezed into the body of the embankment by microtunneling, as this allowed for the least restructuring effect on the soil and provided the greatest degree of control over the progress of construction and the condition of railway tracks.

The microtunneling method allows the construction of tunnel structures without closing traffic along the railway line. This is especially important for this section, since the tunnel crosses the Trans-Siberian Railway, which trains run every six minutes.

The tunnel along Visherskaya Street has become the longest in Russia built using this technology. Its length is 87 meters (106 meters with postcards), and its height is 5.25 meters.

The implementation of this project will significantly improve transport links in the central areas of the city adjacent to the Perm II passenger station, bring the capacity of city streets and roads into line with prospective traffic volumes, as well as ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles and reduce noise levels and atmospheric air pollution.
